Vladivostok [Russia], September 2: During the Eastern Economic Forum 2026 (EEF-2026), Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Sberbank, announced that the bank has purchased two Summit Towers business centers in New Delhi. The transaction marks an important milestone in expanding the infrastructural presence of Sber and Russian businesses in India.
The acquisition of these properties in the Indian capital will establish a new base for long-term partnership. Sber continues to increase its presence in the country, and this investment forms part of that broader strategy.
Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Sberbank:
“We are continuing to expand our presence in India, including in the real estate sector. Not long ago, we acquired two business centers (Summit Towers) in New Delhi. The two large towers in central Delhi, located next to the World Trade Center, are expected to be completed by 2028. Here, we will establish a center for Russian-Indian cooperation – creating a new infrastructural foundation for Russian business presence in India. We invite Russian companies to become partners and join us.”
Earlier, the executive emphasized Sber’s intention to actively continue developing payment instruments and introducing AI solutions in India in 2027, further strengthening its position as the primary provider of bilateral payments between the two countries.
Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Sberbank:
“Over the past year, we have seen significant progress both in banking services and in new business areas. More than 90% of payments from Russia to India are now processed in under 10 minutes (compared with 60% a year ago), and more than one-third of payments are completed within 60 seconds. In practice, if you make a transaction while on a call with an Indian colleague, the payment can be debited from the Russian company and credited to the Indian partner during that same conversation. Payments between the countries are processed very quickly, clearly, efficiently, and with a low commission. This is another strong bridge supporting the continued development of our relations.”
